Alice Pulvers

EXHIBITION: 31 Oct – 16 Nov 2024

Alice Pulvers is a talented artist born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1984. She grew up in both Tokyo and Kyoto before moving to Sydney, Australia, in 2000. Alice’s artistic journey began at a young age, influenced by her bicultural upbringing and her experiences in Paris and other travels

Alice studied life-drawing and took courses at the Julian Ashton Art School and the College of Fine Art in Sydney. Her work often reflects the vibrant colors and compositions of traditional and contemporary Japanese art. She primarily works with gouache on paper and oils, creating pieces that blend realism with imaginative landscapes.

Alice has exhibited her paintings regularly, often alongside her sisters, and has been a finalist in numerous prestigious art prizes, including the Portia Geach Art Prize, the Mosman Art Prize, and the BP Portraiture Prize in London. Her work is known for its unique and intense use of color, and she often explores themes related to the natural world and human experience.
