Max Linegar

Max Linegar returns to the Dickerson Gallery in 2023, with a series of new works under the title of ‘Slow Dive’.
Moving between his urban and rural haunts, the peripatetic Linegar takes inspiration form the lush pastures and seascapes of the Australian East coast and NSW Southern Highlands, as well as inner urban Sydney. Linegar`s evocative drawings - using charcoal and pastel on gesso-primed paper - have consistently captured the transitional and contemplative light of dawn and dusk. The misty and at times poetic landscape images, through their finely depicted detail and nostalgic hazy quality of gesso, are seductively enchanting, with each drawing successfully capturing the beauty of the surrounding light. Linegar`s ability to entice the viewer to enter the meditative and moody terrain shows perception and maturity.
