Jessica Ashton is both a painter and a teacher, doubling up not only professionally, but also artistically in her choice of subject matter. Seeking the effervescent effects of light in our atmosphere, Ashton paints the beauty that illuminates our skies and the innocence that pervades our being. With a rich knowledge of art history and a bright future in art education, Ashton’s perspective is as technically sound as it is emotionally rich.
Although unrelated, Ashton studied drawing and painting extensively at the Julian Ashton Art School on the Sir William Dobell Scholarship for fine draughtsmanship.
She now divides her time between motherhood and teaching drawing and painting at the Julian Ashton Art School and illustration at The University of Technology Sydney.
